VERIZON RELEASES GRANT TO
JUMP START NEW FREE MEDICAL CLINIC
Coeur d’Alene Idaho

Fresh Start, Inc.
announced today that with the donation of $750 from
Verizon, the last piece of the puzzle required to start
the new Fresh Start Free Medical Clinic is in place.
This donation will help buy enough medications necessary
to get the Free Clinic started. This free clinic will
serve homeless or near homeless persons without medical
insurance in Kootenai County two days per week starting
in January at the Fresh Start Building 418 Coeur d’Alene
ID 83814.
The personnel for this
all-volunteer clinic includes Dr. Rolf Nesse as Medical
Director; Debbie Lohrey as Chief Office Manager,
Roseanne Kilbane RN as Nursing Coordinator, Sandy Mamola
as Senior Advisor. Dr. Nesse estimates there will be no
shortage of doctors and nurse volunteers. Fresh Start
volunteer interns (3) and volunteer licensed social
workers (3) will screen clients with a simple
questionnaire before giving them written vouchers to
come to the clinic.
Fresh Start is a 501 © 3 organization begun four
years ago by a group of Downtown Kiwanis Club members
and joined by all volunteer persons from other
organizations, churches and interested individuals.
Besides a medical clinic, Fresh Start provides a place
where homeless persons can get a shower, use the phone,
get snacks, clothes, information and advice and have
someone to talk with. Volunteers are currently on duty
Monday through Thursday from 1 to 4 pm and Friday and
Saturday from 9 am to 4 pm. Cherished Ones Ministries
provides a free soup kitchen at this building Saturday
evenings from 5 to 6:30 p.m. For more information, call
